Red Hat System Administration III (RH254) related to RHEL 7, is designed for experienced Linux administrators who require networking and security administration skills. With a heavy emphasis on practical, hands-on labs, focus is placed on enhancing automation skills to securely configure, deploy, and manage network services including DNS, Apache, SMTP, and network file sharing. In addition, this course emphasizes security, including monitoring, packet filtering, access controls, and SELinux.

At the completion of this course, students already familiar with the Red Hat Certified System Administrator (RHCSA) administration skills will have exposure to all competencies tested by the RHCSA and Red Hat Certified Engineer (RHCE) exams.

  • Configure and troubleshoot basic IPv6 networking on Red Hat Enterprise Linux systems.
  • Configure and troubleshoot advanced network interface functionality including bonding, teaming, and local software bridges.
  • Permit and reject access to network services using advanced SELinux and firewalld filtering techniques.
  • Set and verify correct DNS records for systems and configure secure DNS caching.
  • Relay all email sent by the system to an SMTP gateway for central delivery.
  • Provide and use networked iSCSI block devices as remote disks.
  • Provide NFS exports and SMB file shares to specific systems and users.
